Both Teams To Score Betting Tip
Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund will look to extend their one-point lead over Bayern Munich on Saturday when they host 8th-place Augsburg on Saturday afternoon.
Lucien Favre’s squad are undefeated in their last seven fixtures against their visitors, however three of the past four encounters have ended in 1-1 draws.
Dortmund are the sole undefeated squad in the Bundesliga after six matches, heading the league with 14 points from their opening six matches. They also sport a 2-0 record in Champions League play, defeating Club Brugge 1-0 away in their first match before a convincing 3-0 home win against Monaco on Wednesday. BVB have produced 14 goals in just their last three matches, with star Marco Reus contributing four and striker Paco Alcacer three. Their home form in the domestic league has been stellar, losing just one out of the past 14 at Westfalenstadion. They have only allowed more than one goal in three of those matches, which have seen just four matches go under 2.5 total goals.
Augsburg have been a pleasant surprise this season, sitting 8th in the Bundesliga table with eight points from six ties. Their last two matches have shown a high level, leading to a 1-1 away draw against league giants Bayern Munich, as well as a 4-1 home thrashing against Freiburg. They have scored in every match this season, while their 3-2 loss to Bremen was the only game in which they allowed more than a single goal. Aside from their big away draw at Allianz Arena, their away form has been lacklustre. They have won just one away match in their last seven attempts, while drawing four and losing two. Three of the seven have gone over the 2.5 total goal mark.
Last year’s encounters between the two saw a 1-1 draw in Dortmund, while the reverse was a 2-1 BVB away win in Augsburg. Dortmund have not lost a tie in the matchup since February 2015, a span of seven matches.
Favre will not need to change anything up from his lineup that has finally clicked on the offensive end. BVB will come out in their 4-2-3-1 lineup that is headed by Alcacer upfront and Reus in the centre of an attacking midfield. English prospect Jadon Sancho should get the start after being named to the national team for the first time, as he has been instrumental in the offensive surge over the past three games. Axel Witsel and Thomas Delaney make up a stiff defensive-midfield that have allowed just five goals in eight games this season. The team will look to continue their offensive resurgence through the front four, while the back six protect against Augsburg approaches.
Manager Manuel Baum will look to shut down the Dortmund attack just as he did against Munich two weeks ago. By playing his usual 3-4-3 formation, he will give Die Fuggerstadter the possibility to use Philip Max’s speed speed down the left wing, both joining the attack and defending when necessary. Iceland international striker Alfred Finnbogason returned from injury in style against Freiburg with a hat-trick and will surely feature in the centre-forward role again. Brazilian forward Caiuby will likely feature in the lineup due to his experience playing against top teams, while Andre Hahn should be on the right side to add to the pressure. Rani Khedira will centre the three-man defensive unit that will receive assistance from central midfielders Daniel Baier and Michael Gregoritsch in slowing the potent Dortmund attack.
FootyAcca Team News
Christian Pulisic will miss the match due to a calf injury he sustained last week. He has been excelled for BVB in creating scoring chances this season, but his absence gives way to another Sancho start.
Augsburg are still feeling the effects of being hit by the injury bug in recent months, with three players remaining unavailable for this match due to long-term ailments. Centre-forward Dong-won Ji is the most recent addition to the list, having missed the past four games after tearing his MCL in a goal celebration after scoring against Mainz. He joins Kilian Jakob and Julian Schieber on the sidelines, both with extended injury absences.
Although both teams have sported stellar defenses this season, the past five contests between the two squads have seen both teams pick up goals. With Dortmund rediscovering their scoring prowess in the past two weeks and Finnbogason’s return leading Augsburg to four goals last time out, the 10/13 odds for both teams to find the net are simply too good to pass up.
